About the Rottweiler Dog
ROTTWEILER Rottwe10
History says that the Rottweiler has been a close friend of man for a long, long time and was used back in Roman times to herd cattle and protect property. The Romans used them for herding their cattle and later, German peasants used them for the same purpose. The ferocious nature and instinct for herding of this dog originates from these times when these dogs were supposed to fight against wolves, thieves and other similar dangers, which required that they be decisive, confident and fierce.

These dogs are powerful and quite stoic in their demeanor and their body is strong, head big something like a mastiff, which had given the notion that this dog has descended from mastiff genes. It takes a lot to control and master this animal, and you will need to have an active and assertive personality so it can respect you as its leader.

The Rottweiler training will not be a short 2-3 months course, but up to two years until it matures during which you will need to be at its beck and call watching it, correcting it, loving, enforcing the ‘who-is-the-boss’ rules in the home. If you are not up to it, then the Rottweiler is not the dog for you.

Personality Is Quiet And Observant

87% of all dogs DIE way too early because of the food they are fed. Find out how to STOP this happening to your Rottweiler!

The personality of the Rottweiler is that of a very serious and stoic observance and they are normally calm, fearless, and self-assured. They are not barking dogs but a Rottweiler will normally bark when he is annoyed at its surroundings, rather than at a person. They will definitely check the pecking order in the family and be controlled only by whom they consider their superior.

They can be extremely aggressive with strangers and this is why they should be well socialized right from their puppy stage. Obedience training is of paramount importance for this dog breed, and this has to be done before it becomes full grown.

Overall, this dog makes for a great companion who can astonish you with its intelligence and capability to learn. They are the in fact the happiest, when they feel useful. Rottweilers love to do things for their masters and thrive on the feeling that they are needed. They need lots of exercise, daily – and this includes both mental and physical types with the mental exercises mostly covering obedience and agility, while the physical exercises would involve interactive play and running bouts. A bored and unexercised Rottweiler dog can wreak disaster in your house by chewing things and its temperament can also be grouchy.

Most of the people recommend a female to a male Rottweiler as an ideal pet because she is easier to handle and train and they are smaller and easier to control physically as well. However, the female can get very edgy during mating season and whelping time, otherwise, she is much more affectionate than her counterpart.

The ferocity of the Rottweiler is owed to its origins and its initial occupation and history shows that unless they were strong and ferocious during their herding time, they would not have lasted against the natural and human predators. Hence, their dominant attitude and aggressive temperament made them the best choice dogs at that time and the reinforcement of those traits over a couple of centuries have made the Rottweiler dog what we have today. The history and origins of the Rottweiler explains clearly why and how this dog is what it is today.
