Too often, we're mighty superficial when it comes to how we judge people, particularly strangers. We don't know them, and one look makes us certain we don't want to, either.
This You Tube video is a powerful reminder that, whenever we are so immediately dismissive of another human being, the loss is frequently ours.
Susan Boyle is a 47-year-old resident of small-town West Lothian in Scotland. From the time she was 12, she wanted to sing in front of a large audience. She finally got her chance when she appeared as a contestant last weekend on "Britain's Got Talent," a show founded by American Idol's surly Simon Cowell.
The audience and judges, which included Cowell, started snickering the moment she took the stage.
And then this middle-aged lady started to sing....
